Bakersfield, CA (March 28, 2024) A woman tragically lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon. 23-year-old Liseth Miranda, a Bakersfield resident, did not walk away from this collision. The crash also left two others with injuries, according to police officers. It happened just before 5:00 p.m. in the 6300 block of Harris Road, not too far from Ashe Road.

A black Volkswagen was traveling west on Harris Road as a black Mini Cooper and a Honda headed east. For reasons still unknown, the Volkswagen, driven by a man, suddenly drifted over the double yellow line and into oncoming traffic. No one had time to react as the Mini Cooper and the Honda both crashed into the Volkswagen right around 4:54 p.m.

The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the scene and found the three vehicles with severe damage, blocking the roadway. Paramedics arrived at the scene and discovered that several people had been injured in this crash. One of the victims, identified as Miranda, sustained life-threatening injuries. Emergency personnel began life-saving measures and rushed her to a local hospital to receive treatment. Unfortunately, Miranda’s injuries were too severe and she succumbed to them shortly after arriving at the hospital. The medical emergency team, sadly, pronounced her dead.

Police officers spoke with the driver of the Volkswagen to try and determine what happened. They do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in this accident and are still working to determine what exactly happened on Harris Road in Bakersfield.
