Barstow, CA (March 7, 2024) The news of 65-year-old Elida Fernandez’s death following a collision at a Barstow intersection, spread quickly through the community on Tuesday. It was late morning on March 5th, when the two vehicles collided at the intersection of West Barstow Avenue and North Dickenson Avenue, officers said.
A 2022 GMC pickup truck and a blue 2002 Hyundai collided in the intersection right around 11:14 a.m. The reason for this collision is still unknown, officers said. The California Highway Patrol rushed to the scene and found the two vehicles badly damaged from the accident.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and sadly, found the driver of one of the vehicles deceased. With heavy hearts, they pronounced Fernandez dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 45-year-old man received minor injuries in the collision and was treated at the scene, according to officials.
