(405 Freeway, California) One dead in a five vehicle crash near Getty Center Drive on Monday.
Just after 2:30 p.m., a report was made of a fatal collision on the 405 freeway of Sepulveda Pass. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Los Angeles Fire Department at least five vehicles were involved in the tragic collision. The identity of the individual remains unknown.
One person with minor injuries received assessment from paramedics.
The Northbound traffic was impacted while investigation and clean-up were taking place.
By 6:30, all northbound lanes reopened.
Investigations are still ongoing.
Analysis on 405 of Sepulveda Pass Crash
If the vehicle crash resulted due to a hit-and-run vehicle (s), then investigators may review California Code, VEH 20001(a). This code states that when involved in a vehicle crash resulting in a fatal death or injury, you are required to stay on scene and fulfill the requirements of 20003 and 20004.
Under 20001 (b) (1) of this code states some of the following punishments. If 20001(a) was violated, then an individual may be Imprisonment in a state prison or county jail for at least a year, get fined of $1,000 to $10,000 or get imprisoned and fined.
20001(2) If an individual was involved in a fatal crash or injured another person other than themselves that caused permanent, serious injury or violated 20001(a) should be imprisoned in a state prison for 2,3,4 years. An individual can also stay in a county jail for at least 90 days.
If an individual caused the collision and was under the influence of alcohol, investigators may review California Code, VEH 23152. 23152 (a) states that it is unlawful to drive under the influence of any alcoholic beverages. Investigators may also review 23152 (b). This code states that it is unlawful to drive under the influence of BAC of 0.08% or more, by weight, of alcohol. These code laws can help investigators determine penalties and violation of the vehicle crash near Getty Center Drive before making official charges.
