(Phoenix, Arizona) Two people were struck by a vehicle on September 27th at 67th Avenue and Broadway Road leaving one dead and one injured.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived at the scene, they found two people who were struck by a vehicle where one was pronounced dead at the scene. The other individual was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
It is unknown whether the driver involved stayed or fled the scene, but the investigation is currently ongoing.

It is likely that the driver did not rightfully yield to the two pedestrians before striking them, leading investigators to review A.R.S 28-792. This law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians when crossing a roadway at any point other than a marked or unmarked crosswalk of an intersection.

Though, the pedestrian is required to not walk or run or leave a curb or safety area onto a vehicle close enough where the driver can not yield.
