Hanford, CA (October 23, 2023) – 62 year-old woman, Maria Suarez and her 3 year old granddaughter tragically lost their lives in a pedestrian accident on Phillips Street in Hanford. The accident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21st near the intersection with 3rd Street.
According to reports from the Hanford Police Department, a total of three people, including Maria, her granddaughter, and another child, were walking along Phillips street when they were struck by a car. Details about the cause of the accident are unclear.

All three victims were transported to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries. Sadly, Maria Suarez and her 3 year-old granddaughter, succumbed to their injuries in the hospital and were pronounced dead. The Kings County Coroner’s office identified the victims shortly after. The third victim, a nine year old child, is still alive in unknown condition.
The police are in charge of investigating the pedestrian accident on Phillips Street.
