(North Denver, Colorado) On Sunday afternoon, a head-on collision occurred that led to four people getting Injured.
Thornton Fire Rescue were reported to appear at the scene of the collision at 100th Avenue and Riverdale Road.
Officials with Thornton Fire Rescue confirmed that four people were injured. One named Cisco, was extricated out of one of the vehicles. He is currently suffering critical injuries. One of them being a dislocated hip, lungs collapsed, a tear in his main artery and many more injuries. The individual had to be separated from his partner Dominique and her mother, Debra to a different hospital to better treat his injuries.
While under investigations, crews shut down Riverdale Road in both directions but re-opened two hours later.
The crash is under investigation.
A friend of the three victim’s, Dominique, Debra, Cisco set up a GoFundMe under the name Nicole Plante. The GoFundMe was set up to relieve financial stress for the three victims stating
“The support from this fundraiser will help keep their bills paid for the next two months so Dominique and her family without the added stress of falling behind financially”
Perspective on 100th & Riverdale Roadway
Because the collision is under investigation, investigators may want to review C.R.S. § 42-4-1101 if the increase of speed played a factor in this collision. The required speed on open highways that are not part of the interstate system and are not a four lane freeway or expressway is 55 mph.
Investigators may want to determine if class A traffic infraction violations are involved in the collision. If traffic signals were not followed by a driver then they probably violated code, 42-4-603 (5). “Violations of any of the provisions of law regarding obedience of official traffic control devices is a class A traffic infraction”.
This violation can cause harm to others. It is very important to obey traffic devices to avoid such collisions, especially in a four way street. 42-4-612 (3) discusses that if traffic lights are not working properly, drivers must follow a special law that is involved in cases like these. If not followed, that is a class A traffic infraction.
