Phelan, CA (January 31, 2024) Sadness has covered the community of Phelan following the death of 13-year-old Gulliana Puentes and 1-year-old Analia Puentes. The two girls were tragically killed in a car accident on Friday, January 26th, officials said.

Gulliana and her 12-year-old cousin were picked up from Riverside Preparatory by her 18-year-old sister, Alexandra Puentes, the California Highway Patrol said. 1-year-old Analia and another cousin, Sebastian Puentes, were also in the vehicle. Authorities said that they stopped and had lunch together before heading home. As Alexandra drove the white Toyota Camry west on Phelan Road, she slowed down so she could make a left turn onto Nevada Road. As she lowered her speed, a white Ecoline Ford van slammed into the back of the Toyota.
