(Canyon Country, CA) A Sierra Highway collision involving two Ford Mustangs left Frank Navarro, 47, of Acton dead, with another hospitalized early Tuesday Morning, October 28, authorities said.
According to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez of the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall-area office, the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Sierra Highway just north of Vasquez Canyon Road. Early reports indicated that one of the vehicles struck a utility pole following the impact.
When paramedics arrived, they pronounced Navarro dead at the scene. Another person was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment, though their condition has not been released.
CHP officers remained at the scene for several hours while investigators examined the cause of the collision. A stretch of Sierra Highway was closed for nearly five hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and document evidence.
