Palmdale, CA (January 26, 2024) East Palmdale Boulevard became a scene of destruction late Thursday morning when three vehicles collided. The head-on crash involved a Los Angeles County Fire Department truck, a Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation vehicle, as well as a Ford F-150 pickup truck. It happened just east of 140th Street shortly after 10:00 a.m. on January 25th, authorities reported, and left four people with injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire truck was heading to an emergency at the time of the collision. Sirens on the truck were wailing and the lights were flashing as it hurried toward its destination. Simultaneously, a Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation vehicle was heading west on Palmdale Boulevard when it struck a white Ford F-150 pickup. The force of the collision with the pickup caused the Parks and Recreation vehicle to swerve directly into the fire truck’s path. The fire truck slammed into the vehicle, head-on, as brakes squealed in a failed attempt to stop.

The sounds of metal colliding came to a stop, the dust settled and East Palmdale Boulevard became a debris field. Emergency crews arrived and found 4 people who had been injured in this collision. Three people, two of whom had sustained serious injuries, were transported by medical helicopter to Antelope Valley Hospital. Officers later announced that two of the injured people were Los Angeles fire fighters. A fourth person was treated at the scene for minor injuries and then released, officers said.
Authorities had to close East Palmdale Boulevard between 140th Street and 150th Street for several hours following the accident. Investigators searched the scene for evidence to try and determine what exactly happened while crews cleaned glass and debris from the area.
