Palm Springs, CA (March 28, 2024) A multi-vehicle collision in Palm Springs on Wednesday, March 27th, claimed the life of Alexa Labrecque, 28. The Desert Hot Springs resident was killed at the intersection of 20th Avenue and North Indian Canyon Drive, according to authorities. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that the three-vehicle accident occurred just after 12:00 p.m.

As vehicles drove along Indian Canyon Drive, two vehicles began to slow down as they approached the intersection. One vehicle, traveling behind the two that slowed, was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to slow down. The vehicle slammed into the two slowing vehicles at the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and 20th Avenue, according to initial reports.

The Palm Springs Police Department arrived at the scene with paramedics and found the three vehicles with serious damage. They rushed to the vehicles to help anyone in need of medical attention and found 28-year-old Labrecque with fatal injuries. With heavy hearts, they pronounced her dead at the scene. Paramedics also found three other occupants in the vehicle with Labrecque. All three sustained serious injuries in the collision and were rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment.

The driver of the vehicle that didn’t slow down and crashed into the other two vehicles, was also injured in this collision. Paramedics transported them to a hospital near the scene for treatment to major injuries.

At this point in time, officers aren’t exactly sure why the third vehicle didn’t slow down. Evidence was gathered at the scene and investigators are determined to figure out what happened at this Palm Springs intersection on March 27th. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact the Police Department’s Traffic Division.
