(Gilbert, Arizona) A multi-vehicle collision occurred, killing a woman and her unborn child on Loop 202 close to Power Road in Gilbert.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, authorities believe that a big truck rear ended four trucks after failing to come to a complete stop to yield to traffic. The crash resulted in a force pressure leading one of the vehicles to come off the freeway and down a steep embankment.
In the vehicle was a full-term pregnant woman. The woman later died from her injuries and the unborn child died as well.
The westbound lanes were closed for investigation to take place but have now re-opened.
