Porterville, CA (June 18, 2024) A tragedy occurred in Porterville this past Sunday in which two people were killed.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash that happened sometime before 7:17 p.m. Officers responded to the scene around this time, located near Teapot Dome Avenue and Newcomb Street. Sadly, they found the driver and passenger of one vehicle dead. The driver was a 60-year-old man, and his passenger was a 74-year-old woman. They were both from Arvin.

In the other car was a 29-year-old man suffering from severe injuries. They brought him to the hospital for treatment.
Upon investigation, reports say that the young man, apparently from Redding, was driving southbound on Newcomb St. very, very fast. He neglected to stop for a stop sign at the intersection, and he collided with the other vehicle. The 60-year-old driver was heading eastbound at the time of the crash.
The investigation continues, so more details should come out in time.
