EUREKA, CA (NOVEMBER 8, 2023): Three people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Eureka Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Eureka Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:04 p.m. at the intersection of Henderson and Union, when a Honda Sedan and Ford SUV collided under unclear circumstances.
As a result of the crash, the Honda Sedan smashed into the fence of a yard on the southwest corner of the intersection. The driver and passenger of this vehicle were both 15 years old. Both occupations were able to self-extricate from the vehicle. The occupants were then transported to an area hospital for the treatment of moderate to severe injuries.

The impact of the collision forced the Ford SUV to overturn, trapping the driver. The Humboldt Bay Fire Department was able to extract the driver from the Ford. They were transported via ambulance to an area hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
Photos from the scene reveal that one vehicle suffered extensive damage from the collision.
The exact injuries and current condition of the victims were not released.
The intersection was closed for at least two hours following the collision.
