Las Vegas, NV (September 9, 2024) A devastating collision in east Las Vegas on Sunday morning, claimed two lives and left another with serious injuries. The deadly accident occurred at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Sahara Avenue at approximately 4:00 a.m.
A driver was behind the wheel of a vehicle when they decided to drive at an excessive speed, according to police officers. The speeding vehicle crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Sahara Avenue right around 4 o’clock in the morning. Reports indicated that the speeding vehicle then went airborne before landing nearly 100 feet away from where the collision occurred. The vehicle rolled before coming to a stop in a smashed heap of wreckage, reports indicated.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles. Debris, both big and small, as well as glass littered the scene. Officers found two people who were killed in the collision. One was the driver of the Toyota, and the other was a passenger. Sadly, they were both pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Toyota sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment.
The LVMPD is leading the investigation into this accident. Sadly, they reported that this is the 104th and 105th fatality within their jurisdiction this year. Officers gathered evidence at the scene and are working to determine exactly what happened to cause this fatal and devastating accident.
Update (9/10): The deceased passenger was a 31-year-old woman whose name is being withheld at this time. The critically injured passenger has been identified as 36-year-old Ebrain Hernandez-Vasquez.
