Las Vegas, NV (September 9, 2024) One person lost their life in a tragic rollover collision in Las Vegas on Friday night, September 6, 2024, The accident happened mere minutes before 11:00 p.m., on Desert Inn Road, not too far from Channel 8 Dr, according to reports.
Surveillance video of the accident shows a dark-colored SUV heading east on East Desert Inn Road. At the same time, a 2006 Infinity G35 was also heading east before the SUV. However, the Infinity was traveling faster than the SUV. The driver suddenly seemed to realize they were about to rear-end the SUV and swerved to avoid hitting it. It still collided with the left rear of the SUV, which caused the driver to lose control. The SUV began to spin, according to reports. The Infinity ended up slamming into the barrier on the right side of the roadway, causing it to flip. A passenger inside the Infinity was thrown from the vehicle, reports indicated.
The driver of the dark-colored SUV didn’t stop, but instead fled the scene, heading down East Desert Inn Road, officers reported.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department quickly arrived at the scene. They found the two vehicles on the roadway. The Infinity was badly damaged and offers discovered the person who had been ejected. Officers rushed to the victim’s side and began life-saving measures. Sadly, nothing could be done to save the victim and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The LVMPD Collision Investigation Sections Fatal Detail is leading this investigation. They are working to not only better understand what occurred in Las Vegas that early morning, but they are also determined to find the SUV that fled the scene.
Update (9/10): LVMPD has reported that the driver of the Infiniti, identified as 23-year-old Yoan Cruz-Baron, sustained “substantial” injuries. A passenger in the Infiniti, 20-year-old Daniela Hernandez-Gomez, sustained “moderate” injuries. The deceased passenger’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
