Mojave, CA (January 9, 2024) Mary Leechelle Love, 50, from Ridgecrest was killed, and her boyfriend was seriously injured in a head-on collision in Mojave. Authorities described the accident as “brutal” and reported that it occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Redrock Randsburg Road, just west of Garock Road. The driver of the other vehicle involved, Carolin Smith, was also seriously injured in this accident.
Love was driving a white Hyundai, heading east, according to officers. Smith, a 53-year-old California City resident, was driving a white Mercedes west. The two vehicles approached each other until they collided, head-on.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found that Love was killed in the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. Her 49-year-old boyfriend was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. He was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Smith was also taken to a hospital in serious condition, officers said.
