(Riverside, California) On September 25th, Richard Dominguez was identified as the bicyclist who was struck by a Tract-Trailer at Indiana Avenue and Jefferson Street on Thursday.
According to Detective Steve Espinosa, the big-rig was making an eastbound turn on riverside street when the bicyclist and the tractor trailer collided into one another. The big-rig driver stopped and was questioned but did not get arrested. Paramedics arrived at the scene and shortly attempted to revive Dominguez but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on the information, we aren’t sure who caused the crash so we can only assume so much. If the big-rig driver struck the bicyclist, the driver may have violated California Vehicle Code 20001 (2) to which it states that if a driver is involved in a vehicle crash resulting in permanent, serious injury or death, they shall be imprisoned in a state prison for two to four years or in a county jail for 90 days to one year. The driver may also be fined $1,000 to 10,000 or both.
If the driver was impaired with any drugs or alcohol, they may have violated California Vehicle Code law 21532 which prohibits driving under the influence of any alcohol or drugs and if violated, investigator may also review California Vehicle Code 23536, discussing that the person shall be imprisoned at a county jail for at least 96 hours, 48 hours continuously, no more than 6 months and fined $390 to $1,000.
