Poway, CA (November 2, 2023) A man was killed on Monday evening, October 31st, when the electric tricycle he was riding collided with an SUV. Authorities said the accident occurred on Camino Del Norte, near World Trade Drive.
A man was riding his electric tricycle when a car came up behind him on Camino Del Norte. Before anyone knew what was happening, the vehicle rear-ended the electric tricycle.
First responders arrived at the scene to find an electric tricycle that had been hit from behind by a 2021 Mercedes-Benz. The 65-year-old man who was riding the electric tricycle was found on the roadway, injured.

Paramedics at the scene rushed the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died. Police officers removed his tricycle from the scene and crews cleared the roadway of debris that was left behind.
The 47-year-old female who was driving the Mercedes-Benz, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. She was uninjured in the accident and after questioning her, officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this collision.
The Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation of this accident. They are trying to find witnesses who saw the accident so they can figure out what exactly caused the vehicle to crash into the back of the electric tricycle on Camino Del Norte in Poway.
