Riverside, CA (October 27, 2024) A bicyclist tragically lost their life in a Riverside hit-and-run on Saturday evening, October 26th, 2024. The collision occurred just before 8:00 p.m. on Streeter Avenue, not far from Lantana Street. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the accident, leaving the bicyclist with life-threatening injuries.
The sun had set over Riverside, California, as a bicyclist rode through the streets. As they rode along Streeter Avenue, a vehicle approached. For reasons that remain a mystery, the vehicle hit the bicycle, knocking the rider to the ground. However, the driver of the vehicle didn’t stop following this collision. Instead, they continued driving until they were out of sight.
Sgt. Dan Macias with the Riverside Police Department told City News Service that they arrived to find the rider with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, they succumbed to those injuries. Sgt. Macias stated that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers requested a coroner and began investigating the area.
They continue to search or the driver responsible for this Riverside hit-and-run. The Riverside Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this accident to call them at 951-826-8720.
