MODESTO, CA (NOVEMBER 9, 2023): Authorities are searching for the driver who killed a bicyclist in a hit-and-run in Modesto on Tuesday.
According to the Modesto Police Department, the collision occurred on Tuesday, November 7th around 5:30 p.m. on McHenry avenue, somewhere between Sylvan and East Union avenues. Reports indicate a white or light-colored Kia Soul was traveling south on McHenry when it collided with a bicyclist crossing the street. The cause of this collision was not made immediately available.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene shortly after, and discovered the bicyclist in critical condition. The victim was then rushed to an area hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and died at the facility.
The driver of the Kia Soul fled the scene. The vehicle is believed to have damage on its front windshield and passenger side.
Officers are still unsure of the exact cause of this incident. They continue to investigate this fatal Modesto hit-and-run.
