Fresno, CA (September 16, 2024) A bicyclist tragically lost their life on Friday, September 13 in Fresno. He has been identified as 41-year-old Luciano Becerra Garcia.
Garcia was riding his bike against traffic in a northbound lane of Highway 41 near Shields Ave. that morning around 5 a.m. A 19-year-old coming the opposite way struck him for unknown reasons, and he was thrown into the road. California Highway Patrol reports that he was blocking two traffic lanes.
Paramedics rushed Garcia to the hospital, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
The motorist involved remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
