Cerritos, CA (September 3, 2024) A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on the 91 Freeway in Cerritos on Sunday, September 1, 2024. The accident claimed the lives of Ruby Perez, 25, and Jabarri Adams, 25. Officers reported that the collision occurred just after 6:30 a.m. and left two others with injuries.
It all started when a box truck and a pickup truck collided. The box truck became disabled in the No. 2 lane of the 91 Freeway. A Honda Accord was driving in the No. 2 lane and couldn’t avoid the box truck, according to reports. It slammed into the back of the box truck at a fairly high rate of speed, near the 605 Freeway and Studebaker Road.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found Perez and Adams in the Honda, unresponsive. Sadly, they were both pronounced dead at the scene. Officers reported that two others were injured in the collision and were transported to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Before the investigation began, officers closed all of the eastbound lanes on the 91 Freeway. Reports indicated that the road was closed for approximately 5 hours. Officers took statements at the scene and gathered evidence. They are working to determine what caused this deadly collision on the 91 Freeway in Cerritos.
