Fullerton, CA (August 29, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in Fullerton on Wednesday afternoon, August 28th, 2024. A motorcyclist was killed in a collision at the intersection of Basque Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue, when an SUV attempted a U-turn. It happened just after 3:00 p.m. and caused serious traffic issues.
Officers reported that a black 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading west on Commonwealth Avenue. At the same time, a Toyota RAV4 SUV was driving east on Commonwealth. The SUV tried to make a U-Turn at North Basque Avenue, causing vehicles heading west to slam on their brakes. The motorcyclist didn’t seem to understand why everyone was stopping and switched lanes to go around the stopped vehicles. In doing so, the motorcycle collided with the SUV. The Harley Davidson ended up wedged under the SUV and the rider was thrown onto the roadway.

The Fullerton Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground, motionless. They began life-saving measures, but the rider had already succumbed to their injuries and nothing could be done. Sadly, they pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Officers said they investigated the scene and questioned the driver of the RAV4, following the accident. Officers do not believe that drugs and alcohol played a role in this collision.
The motorcycle had to be freed from beneath the RAV4 and hauled from the scene. Investigators are working to understand what exactly happened to cause this fatal accident in Fullerton.
