San Diego, CA (August 10, 2024) A 25-year-old woman riding a motorcycle sustained serious injuries in a collision in San Diego. Officers reported that the woman lost control on a curve on Torrey Pines Road in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego. The accident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Friday, August 9th, 2024.
The 2600 block of Torrey Pines Road in San Diego has a curve that requires drivers to slow down as they navigate through it. On Friday afternoon, a 25-year-old woman was riding a motorcycle when she attempted the curve in the road. For reasons that remain unknown, the woman lost control and slammed into the center median. The force from the impact sent the woman flying off her motorcycle and making a hard landing on the roadway, according to reports.
The San Diego Police Department arrived at the scene and found the woman on lying on the roadway, her motorcycle busted and dented, several feet from her. Paramedics found that the woman had fractured both of her legs, as well as her torso. She was also suffering from internal bleeding and required emergency surgery. She was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive emergency treatment, officer Jose Parales told City News Service.
The Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating this accident to determine exactly what happened. They want to better understand what caused the motorcyclist to lose control in the first place, causing this accident. They are asking that anyone with information call them at 858-495-7800. At this time, they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this collision.
