Winchester, CA (August 9, 2024) A tragic incident occurred in Winchester today when an elderly man on a bicycle sustained serious injuries.
Three men riding bikes were heading eastbound near Simpson and Leon roads around 8:19 a.m. today. They were passing through an area that had been temporarily narrowed to accommodate a construction zone.
A white pickup truck going the same direction passed alongside the riders, making it so they didn’t have enough room to safely ride. This caused one of them, a man in his mid-70s, to crash and fall.
The cyclists say that the pickup truck driver fled the scene without helping.
The victim sustained a possible collarbone injury and was taken to Inland Valley Hospital.
