As she approached Vine Street, the pickup truck struck her, knocking her to the ground. The pickup then fled the scene, officers reported, leaving the woman injured on the side of the road.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the woman on the ground. Witnesses were nearby and one told officers they knew where the pickup truck was because they had followed it when they saw it flee the scene. It had been abandoned by the driver, but officers were given a description by witnesses at the scene.
