Antelope, CA (August 6, 2024) A bicyclist suffered serious injuries following a hit-and-run collision in Antelope. The accident happened on Monday night, August 5th, just after 9:30 p.m., according to reports. The rider was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Blackfoot Way and Watt Avenue.
The sun had set and darkness covered Antelope, California, at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, August 1st. A bicyclist was riding and approached the intersection of Blackfoot Way and Watt Avenue. Street lights illuminated the intersection and reflectors on the bike glowed in the dark as headlights hit them. At approximately 9:33 p.m., the bicyclist entered the intersection. A black Nissan Altima also entered the intersection, hitting the bicyclist. The impact sent the rider flying, landing several feet from the car, which fled the scene.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the rider on the ground with serious injuries. The bicycle was on the ground, dented and damaged. Officers called for an ambulance and stayed with the victim until the ambulance arrived. It was obvious the rider had been struck by a vehicle, but no vehicle was in the area. Witnesses told officers they saw a black Nissan Altima flee the scene, following the accident.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and carefully loaded the bicyclist into an ambulance. They were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries, reports indicated. The bicycle had to be removed from the scene and officers gathered as much evidence as they could find. They are actively searching for the hit-and-run driver and are determined to bring him or her to justice.
