Los Angeles, CA (July 29, 2024) The Florence area of Los Angeles was the location of a tragic hit-and-run accident, officers reported. Sadly, a 48-year-old woman lost her life just after 1:00 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle. The tragedy occurred on Gage Avenue and the driver quickly fled the scene, according to reports.

It was just after 1:00 a.m. in the Florence area of Los Angeles on Monday, July 29th, as a 48-year-old woman walked along Gage Avenue. As she walked, a vehicle approached her in the westbound lane. At approximately 1:11 a.m., at 219 W. Gage Avenue, the vehicle struck the pedestrian. It was dark and perhaps the driver didn’t see her, but the driver fled the scene. Legally, drivers are required to stop and remain at the scene. Instead, this driver took off, leaving the woman alone in the dark of early morning, with life-threatening injuries.

When the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene, they found the woman on the ground with critical injuries. Officers began administering life-saving techniques as they requested an ambulance at the scene. Paramedics arrived and quickly loaded the woman into the ambulance. Emergency lights pierced the darkness and sirens broke through the quiet of night as she was rushed to a local hospital. The emergency staff did everything they could to save the woman, but her injuries were too serious. She succumbed to those injuries, surrounded by medical staff at the hospital. With heavy hearts, they pronounced her dead.

Officers at the scene utilized their flash lights and searched the area for any evidence they could find. They are determined to figure out what kind of vehicle hit the woman and hope to bring the responsible driver to justice.
