Oildale, CA (July 11, 2024) A tragic pedestrian accident in Oildale left the community saddened on Sunday morning, July 7th. 39-year-old Felex Mardoqueo Flores Hernandez was struck and killed by 44-year-old Oscar Hernandez Garcia. The collision was said to be intentional and not an accident, officers reported. It happened right around 7:36 a.m. on Teakwood Drive.
Hernandez was walking in the 200 block of Teakwood Drive early on Sunday morning in Oildale, as Garcia drove along the same road. Reports indicated that Garcia intentionally turned the wheel of his vehicle so that he would hit Hernandez as he walked. The impact sent Hernandez flying through the air before landing on the ground.

A 911 call came through and deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene. They found Hernandez on the ground, but he wasn’t moving, according to reports. Officers were ready to give life-saving treatment for the victim, but it was too late. Sadly, Hernandez had been killed in the collision and there was nothing that could be done, reports indicated. 39-year-old Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene and officers waited for the coroner to arrive.
44-year-old Garcia was arrested and booked into jail. He faces murder charges, according to reports. Officers investigated the accident and determined that it was not an accident at all. It is being investigated as a homicide, deputies reported. Officers are now working to understand why this fatal collision occurred and are determined to figure out Garcia’s motivation.
