Santa Cruz, CA (July 3, 2024) Details are slowly coming out about a fatal collision that took place in Santa Cruz involving a car and a pedestrian.
The deadly crash occurred early Wednesday morning at about 3:30 a.m. It took place near Mission Street and Laurel Street, where the Santa Cruz Police Department has reportedly closed the road for investigation.
A 22-year-old man was struck in the road when a car going south on Mission came up to the intersection of Laurel Street. The man, who was identified as Cody Stark-McCollum, was rushed to the hospital with traumatic injuries. Tragically, he passed away at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Stark-McCollum stayed at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
