Madera County, CA (June 24, 2024) Sadness covered the community of Madera County on Sunday as news spread of a tragic accident that claimed a life. It happened on Highway 49 between a motorcycle and an RV, according to reports. The collision, tragically, claimed the 20-year-old motorcyclist’s life.

It was just before 4:00 p.m. on Highway 49, not too far from Hilltop Lane, on Sunday, June 23rd. A 20-year-old resident of the town of Lemoore was riding a motorcycle south on the highway. Suddenly, the motorcycle veered out of the lane and into oncoming traffic. An RV was heading north along Highway 49 and saw the motorcycle drift directly into its path. However, there was nothing the driver of the RV could do. The two vehicles collided, head-on, in the northbound lane, according to reports.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground, motionless. The motorcycle was dented and completely destroyed, reports indicated. Officers rushed to the young motorcyclist’s side and found that the rider had been killed in the collision. Officers placed a tarp over the motorcyclist’s body and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the RV, a 26-year-old, was uninjured in the accident and remained at the scene. They answered the officer’s questions and cooperated during their investigation. Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this fatal collision in Madera County. The California Highway Patrol is leading this investigation and are determined to understand exactly what happened to cause this horrible accident.
