Las Vegas, NV (June 21, 2024) A fiery wrong-way collision on the Northern Beltway 215 on Thursday afternoon claimed two lives, officers reported. Another person sustained injuries in the fatal Las Vegas accident. It all happened just after 4:00 p.m., not too far from Jones Boulevard, and left both vehicles in flames.

Vehicles were headed west on the 215 when another vehicle began heading east in the westbound lanes of traffic. One of the westbound vehicles had no time to get out of the way, and the two collided head-on. Mere seconds after the impact, both vehicles caught on fire, officers reported. Witnesses said smoke could be seen miles away from the accident.

Emergency crews with the Nevada State Police arrived at the scene, along with the fire department. They quickly worked to extinguish the flames and then checked the vehicles for occupants, fearing the worst. The vehicle that had been driving the wrong way had one occupant. The driver, a male, did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by officials.

The second vehicle, the one that was struck by the wrong-way driver, held two occupants. The driver did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. (Update: on Tuesday, June 25, the Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the wrong-way driver as 39-year-old Daniel Ozeri. The other driver was 49-year-old Elie Khoury. His son, Julian Khoury, 23, was the passenger in the vehicle. He confirmed more details about the crash, saying that the wrong-way motorist was driving over 100 mph toward the car his father was driving.)
