Sylmar, CA (May 24, 2024) The community of Sylmar remains in shock following a multi-vehicle collision that left eight people, including four children, injured. Brian Humphrey, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, reported that the collision occurred at a three-way stop at approximately 3:00 p.m. At least four vehicles were said to be involved in this accident that left four children hospitalized.

Humphrey said that the accident took place in the 14900 block of West Hubbard Street at the three-way intersection. Officers still aren’t sure what happened but four vehicles were involved in the collision. One of the vehicles overturned after colliding with another car, according to reports.

The Los Angeles Fire Department hurried to the scene and found the four vehicles, damaged and in the middle of the intersection. One vehicle was overturned and debris was everywhere. Paramedics began checking people for injuries and found four adults and four children, ages 6-12, with injuries. Humphreys told City News Service that the children were wearing seat belts but some of the restraints were put on improperly. Paramedics transported two adults to a local hospital with serious injuries and also four children with minor injuries. The two other injured adults were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Detectives continue to investigate this accident to try and determine what exactly happened at that three-way stop in Sylmar. They took statements and gathered evidence and are working to piece together what happened that afternoon. Tow trucks had to remove some of the vehicles from the scene and crews worked diligently to remove the debris and glass from the roadway.
