Burbank, CA (May 20, 2024) A deadly collision shocked the community of Burbank late Saturday morning. It all happened at the intersection of Hollywood Way and Vanowen Street right around 11:15 a.m. The collision claimed one person’s life and officers believe that speed may have been a factor in this fatal accident.

A white Scion and a Toyota Corolla were speeding on Vanowen Street as they headed east towards Hollywood Way. As they entered the intersection, the two vehicles collided, according to reports. The impact caused both vehicles to slam into a utility pole before crashing into a fire hydrant. The cars finally came to a stop as the utility pole fell to the ground. The driver of the Scion was thrown through the vehicle’s windshield during the collision, according to reports, and then pinned under the vehicle. Water was shooting from the fire hydrant and debris and glass were everywhere.

Sadly, the driver of the Scion did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries in the collision and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
