Reno, NV (May 5, 2024) The community of downtown Reno awoke to sadness on Saturday, May 4th. In the middle of the night, under the darkness of early morning, a motorcyclist lost their life in a collision with another vehicle. The tragedy took place at the intersection of High Street and Ryland Street at approximately 3:19 a.m., according to reports.

Officers are not certain as to what exactly happened to cause this fatal accident, but they do know that speed was a factor. The motorcyclist and the vehicle both entered the intersection at the same time, causing the two vehicles to collide. The force sent the motorcyclist flying until he hit the ground, hard, and rolled. He finally came to a stop, motionless, in the middle of the roadway. The motorcycle slid across the road until finally coming to a stop in a wrecked heap of metal and dented tires.

The Reno Police Department quickly arrived at the scene in downtown and found the motorcycle and the rider lying in the roadway. The other vehicle involved was stopped, with damage, as the driver waited for authorities to arrive. The driver cooperated with officers during their investigation.

Officers hurried to the side of the motorcyclist and found that they were unresponsive. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the rider dead at the scene and called for the coroner. A tarp was respectfully placed over the rider’s body as they waited.

Investigators gathered evidence and spoke with the driver of the other vehicle involved. At this time, they are uncertain if alcohol or drugs were factors in this accident, but are certain that speed played a role. Anyone with information regarding this fatal accident is asked to contact the Reno Police Department’s non-emergency line at 775-334-2677.
