North Highlands, CA (April 12, 2024) A two-vehicle collision left three people with injuries on Wednesday, April 10th, in North Highlands. The collision occurred around 8:00 p.m. when one of the vehicles ran a red light at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Jackson Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A teenager was driving along Jackson Street with two other teens in the vehicle. They reached Madison Avenue and drove through the intersection on a red light. Another vehicle was coming through the intersection, on Madison Avenue, on a green light at the same time. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, according to officers. The teenager driving the first car managed to park in a nearby parking lot. The other vehicle, driven by a woman, was sitting in the middle of the roadway with major damage.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles. The female driver was trapped inside her vehicle and firefighters had to use special tools to remove her from the wreckage. Paramedics carefully loaded her into an ambulance and transported her to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Officers made their way to the damaged vehicle in the parking lot and found injured teenagers. However, officers reported that one of the teens got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The two remained teens sustained injuries, including one with a broken leg, and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators gathered evidence and spoke with witnesses as well as those involved in the collision. A tow truck was called to remove the second vehicle from the roadway and debris and glass had to be cleared from the scene.
