Silverado Canyon, CA (March 11, 2024) One man’s decision to get behind the wheel after drinking cost not only his own life, but the life of another innocent driver as well. Sadly, 34-year-old Austin Crump from La Habra did not walk away from this accident. This devastating head-on collision occurred on Santiago Canyon Road at approximately 9:00 p.m., according to reports.
Officers at the scene reported that a 42-year-old man from Santa Ana was driving a 1993 Toyota and Crump was in a 2018 Ford. The two vehicles drove along Santiago Canyon Road, approaching each other, until they suddenly collided, head-on, near Limestone Spur Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene with paramedics who rushed to give medical aid to anyone in need. Unfortunately, they found Austin Crump deceased and pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The medical team did everything within their power to save the man, but his injuries were just too severe. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Both vehicles were so damaged that they had to be hauled away from the scene and crews worked as fast they could to remove debris and glass from the roadway. Traffic investigators worked the scene, looking for evidence, and determined that one of the drivers had been drunk at the time of this deadly collision.
