Las Vegas, NV (March 11, 2024) Tragedy struck in the middle of the night in Las Vegas when a hit-and-run crash left one person Dead. It was Sunday morning, at approximately 1:30 a.m. when two vehicles crashed into each other, causing one of the vehicles to burst into flames, officers reported. The accident occurred at Bruce Street and Centennial Parkway and claimed the life of one of the drivers.
The NLVPD Traffic Bureau’s Major Collision Investigation Unit reported that a 2020 Dodge Challenger was heading west on Centennial Parkway. The vehicle was speeding as it approached Bruce Street, officers said. At the same time, a Hyundai Sonata was also traveling west in front of the Dodge. The Dodge sped up behind the Hyundai and then rear-ended it. The Hyundai burst into flames in the middle of the road.
The driver of the Dodge panicked, quickly stepped out of the vehicle and ran away on foot, according to investigators. The suspect left the driver of the Hyundai behind in the burning vehicle and didn’t even call 911.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the Hyundai engulfed in flames. The Dodge sat near it, door ajar, with heavy front-end damage. Firefighters raced to put out the flames and sadly found the driver of the Hyundai still inside. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
Officers investigated the scene and gathered evidence. They believe that speed and impairment were both factors in this deadly accident. They are determined to find the driver of the Dodge, who will face several charges, according to authorities.
