Los Angeles, CA (February 20, 2024) – A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred in the Lake Balboa area earlier today, resulting in a man losing his life and leaving a woman critically injured. The incident took place on the 17300 block of West Saticoy Street around 9:42 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

According to reports from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the collision involved a car and a pickup truck. The impact caused the truck to veer off course, striking a tree and a commercial building, damaging a natural gas meter in the process. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the male occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the car sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

While rain was reported in the area at the time of the accident, authorities have launched an investigation to determine the specific cause and any contributing factors to the collision. SoCalGas crews, along with building and health inspectors, were dispatched to the scene to assess the damage. A nearby restaurant sustained damage, necessitating a health inspection.

Despite the intensity of the collision, there were no reports of additional injuries or medical complaints among bystanders. Traffic in the area has been redirected to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
