Oakland, CA (February 14, 2024) 18-year-old James Jackson was walking to school on Tuesday morning, just as he had done every other morning, when he was suddenly hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene, officers said. The Oakland hit-and-run accident has left a community in shock and left Jackson’s mother angry, officers reported.
Jackson was walking to school shortly after 8:00 a.m. on February 13th when he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of International Boulevard and 4oth Avenue, according to officers. The vehicle didn’t stop to check on the teen, but instead, fled the scene. Jackson was left alone and injured on the roadway.
Oakland Police Officers arrived at the scene and found Jackson with major, but non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the teenager to a nearby hospital via ambulance where he received treatment for several injuries, including broken bones.
Jackson’s mother, Christy Miles, told officers that she thinks the car that hit her son was white, but she didn’t have any other details, according to KTVU News.The Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating this accident and are determined to find the suspect with the public’s help.
