Antioch, CA (October 8, 2023) William Marlik, Jr., age 63, who was riding a motorcycle, was killed when a speeding vehicle hit him from behind in Antioch. Authorities said the accident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Marlik was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Prewett Ranch Drive and Deer Valley Road when he was hit from behind by a speeding driver. The force of the collision threw Marlik from his motorcycle.

Authorities said the force of the crash caused both the motorcycle and the car that hit him to collide with two other vehicles. Officers rushed to the scene and began giving first aid to those who were injured. Police didn’t say exactly how many people were injured or the extent of their injuries.
Marlik was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Officers said that speed and inattention seem to be the cause of this fatal collision.
