Modesto, CA (September 23, 2023) A motorcyclist was killed on Thursday morning after colliding into the back of a car in Modesto. The California Highway Patrol said that the accident occurred in the dark, around 5:30 a.m. on State Route 99.
The fatal accident took place just south of Hammett Road in Modesto. Authorities received calls about a collision involving a motorcycle and a man lying in the northbound lanes of SR-99.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that a man in a 2010 Mercedes sedan was approaching Hammett Road when traffic forced him to slow down. A motorcyclist was behind him, traveling at an unknown speed, and didn’t slow down. He crashed into the back of the Mercedes and was thrown from the motorcycle.
The 21-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later declared dead at the hospital, according to officials.
The California Highway Patrol does not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.
