Goleta, CA (September 21, 2023) A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Wednesday. The driver of the car fled the scene, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department. A 19-year-old was later found and arrested for the fatal accident.
Deputies responded to the scene around 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Upon arrival, they found a landscape maintenance worker unconscious and lying in the bicycle lane. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said the man had obviously been hit by a vehicle.

Deputies at the scene performed CPR on the man until emergency medical personnel arrived. However, they determined that the man was beyond resuscitation and pronounced him dead at that scene.
Following an investigation, deputies tracked the accident to a 19-year-old in the 400 block of Storke Road. He was positively identified as the suspect and was arrested.
