Apple Valley, CA (September 15, 2023) A man was critically injured on Thursday morning after crashing into an excavator on Bear Valley Road. The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Department said the accident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. on September 14, 2023.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Pamela Hoffman said a vehicle was pulling a trailer, carrying an excavator and was stopped at a red light on Bear Valley Road. It was near Deep Creek Road in Apple Valley.
Suddenly, the trailer was rear-ended by a Ford truck. The impact caused the Ford pickup to become stuck on the excavator, according to Hoffman.

While all of this was happening, an off-duty nurse just happened to be in the same area. She was identified as Angie and she stopped to assist those involved in the accident. She shared a Facebook post, thanking the construction workers on site for assisting her with first aid. They also helped direct traffic around the accident until first responders arrived on the scene.
The Apple Valley Fire Protection District sent firefighters to the scene. They removed the man, who was injured, from the vehicle. Hoffman told VVNG that the man had a head injury and was taken by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
The accident is being investigated by the Apple Valley Police Department.
