(El Monte, California) On September 29th, a vehicle crashed into an entrance of a Food4Less injuring two people in the 1100 block of Garvey Avenue.

Two people were struck by the vehicle and one was taken to the hospital. The individual identity is unknown at the moment. The Fire department arrived at the scene and cleared the area at 8:34 a.m.

According to an inspector, adding the damage was not substantial. It is unclear whether impairment played a factor in the accident

Legal Analysis on 1100 Block of Garvey Avenue

Because the driver’s action involves damaging a property, investigators may review California Vehicle Code Law 22350. This law code prohibits driving at a speed that endangers property and because the driver caused an injury they may also review California Vehicle Code Law 20001. This law code states the following penalties he would face such as imprisonment in a state prison for 2 to 4 years, in a county jail for 90 days-1 year, fined $1,000 to $10,000 or by both.

The driver striking the supermarket may give investigators a reason to review California Vehicle Code 23152 to investigate if the driver was impaired with any alcohol.  Oftentimes when impaired with alcohol or drugs, the driver may not be in the right mind-set to avoid harming a group of people or property. If the driver was driving with a 0.08% of BAC or more by weight or under the influence of any alcoholic beverages and drugs investigators may review what the driver should be punished with under the first conviction of California Vehicle Code 23536. The following punishments for this law code is imprisonment in the county jail for not less than 96 hours, at least 48 hours of which shall be continuous, nor more than six months, and by a fine of not less than three hundred ninety dollars $390 to $1,000.
