(Riverside County, CA) on Monday, July 27th, Peter Mullis dies from a motor vehicle fleeing from police officers before the driver struck Peter Mullis, 42, at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Park Sierra Drive.
Riverside Police Department confirmed that officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle driver at around 11:40 a.m. for an alleged vehicle code violation. The vehicle first yielded to the officers but then allegedly fled at Magnolia Avenue. The driver hit Mullis, leading him to his death near Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. He was taken to that same medical center after the crash.
According to police, the suspect has been identified as Gene Amos Cunningham, 62, of Riverside who has outstanding felony’s warrants with parole for assault of a deadly weapon and a few more violations as well. He was also arrested and booked for murder and felony arrest resulting in death with no bail.
The East Magnolia between Skofstad Street and Polk Street on Park Sierra Drive including other lanes were closed due to the accident as well.

Kaiser Permanente released a statement regarding Peter Mullis death,
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our employees in a traffic
incident near Riverside Medical Center on July 27. Our heartfelt condolences
are with the employee’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult
time”.
