(Inglewood, California) On Monday, July 27th, at around 10:30 P.M, a vehicle driver hit a pedestrian and left the scene

Police confirmed that male pedestrian got hit by driver just west from South Cedar Avenue and West Arbor Vitae Street. Authorities also confirmed that the vehicle that struck the passenger fled the scene.

As of July 28th,  identification on the vehicle driver and pedestrian has not been released. Neither were the pedestrian injuries before their fatal death has been released. The initial Investigation was underway.

Investigating Male Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle

In California, it is against the law to leave the scene if you injured, let alone kill a person. Here are two main laws investigators may take a look at for this matter

California Vehicle Code § 20001 requires drivers to stop at the scene when involved in a collision that killed or injured a person. If you leave the scene, you could be punished by imprisonment in a state prison, or county jail.

Violating this law can cause you can be charged up to 2 to 4 years in prison. You can also get 90 days to one year in prison and get fined from $1,000 to $10,000.

Investigators can take a look on the Rules of The Road Law if the pedestrian death was a result to speeding. On section (22350) of this law states that drivers required not to speed above the reasonable speed or prudent due to weather, visibility, the traffic on, surface and width of highway, and the speed that endangers a persons safety or property. This code may related to the male pedestrian hit by a vehicle.

    Advice for the Family
