(U.S Highway 93, Nevada) Driver Nazia Salma, 44, and passengers Nihaa Shaik, 19-, and 13-year-old boy and one unidentified victim died on U.S Highway 93, when a Honda Odyssey driver hit the front of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

Monday, July 20th, five miles away from north Wells in U.S. Highway 93, Nevada Highway Patrol confirmed that a Honda Odyssey minivan was driving south while a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck was traveling North.  When the van was approached by the pick-up truck, Salma lost control while crossing over the center line to pass another vehicle. The Toyota driver tried to avoid the collusion by turning right but the left front of the pick-up was struck by the Honda minivan.

The Honda spined counterclockwise while the Toyota drove out of the roadway and flipped side-ways on the passenger side.  Four people died and one injured that were in the van.  Two passengers in total of both vehicles were taken to the hospital.

Analysis of Toyota Tacoma Pick-up Truck and Honda Odyssey Minivan Crash

When it comes to collusions that involve driving on the wrong side of a canyon, or mountain highways, Nevada Highway Patrol may look into the Driving on Defiles Canyons or Mountain Highways for Nevada Revised Statuses NRS (484B.120). This code requires you to drive in defiles, canyons or mountain highways on the near the right edge of the highway as possible. It also requires drivers to make sure the vehicle is under control while being on those roads. In this collision Salma, Honda Odyssey driver was also losing control of her own vehicle leading it to hit the left side on the front of the pick-up vehicle which may give investigators a reason to look into this specific section of the Revised Statuses.

Investigators may also take a look on the Driving on right half of highway required; exception; additional penalty for violation committed in Certain Zones NRS (484B.203) Requiring all drivers to drive on the right half of a highway. This may be what Salma did not follow if investigators consider this code. One of the following exceptions to this is when overtaking and passing another vehicle going in the same direction under the laws, governing such movements.
