(Canyon Country, CA) One person was killed and another hospitalized early Tuesday morning, October 28, following a Sierra Highway collision that involved two Ford Mustangs colliding head-on, authorities said.
According to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez of the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall-area office, the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Sierra Highway just north of Vasquez Canyon Road. Early reports indicated that one of the vehicles struck a utility pole following the impact.
When paramedics arrived, they pronounced one person dead at the scene. Another person was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment, though their condition has not been released.
CHP officers remained at the scene for several hours while investigators examined the cause of the collision. A stretch of Sierra Highway was closed for nearly five hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and document evidence.
