(North Hollywood, CA) Several people suffered injuries in a Vineland Avenue three-vehicle crash that also forced a nearby Metrolink train to halt Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, September 17, at about 6:40 a.m., the Vineland Avenue three-vehicle crash occurred. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, it happened at the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street in North Hollywood.

The collision left one vehicle on its roof, and another stacked on top of a car. Crews assessed six people at the scene, and five of them were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. One person declined medical transport.

Emergency responders briefly stopped a nearby Metrolink train for safety reasons while tending to victims and clearing the crossing signal, which had fallen into the roadway. Once the area was secured, the train resumed travel at reduced speed. Crews also performed a “quick door pop” to free one person from a damaged vehicle. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the Vineland Avenue three-vehicle crash.

Legal Opinion on the Vineland Avenue Three-Vehicle Crash

A lawyer speaks to a client regarding an accident.

The Vineland Avenue three-vehicle crash raises several important legal issues under California law. Because multiple people were injured, investigators will need to determine which driver bears primary responsibility. One relevant statute is California Vehicle Code 22107, which prohibits unsafe turning or lane changes. If a sudden lane movement triggered the chain-reaction crash, this law could apply. Speed is another factor. California Vehicle Code 22350, the Basic Speed Law, requires drivers to travel only at speeds safe for conditions. If traffic or road conditions required extra caution and a driver failed to slow down, liability may exist.

In addition, California Vehicle Code 21703 addresses following too closely. Rear-end collisions in multi-vehicle crashes often result from a driver not leaving enough space to stop safely. Because several victims required hospital treatment, those injured may file personal injury claims. Civil claims allow recovery for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and future rehabilitation costs.

    What the Victims Can Do

Those injured in the Vineland Avenue three-vehicle crash should consult a personal injury attorney immediately. An attorney can obtain the LAPD traffic collision report, analyze photos of the crash scene, and gather witness testimony to determine liability. Victims may pursue claims against the at-fault driver’s insurance. Even though injuries are non-life-threatening, medical costs and long-term effects can be significant. Filing civil claims ensures victims receive the financial support they need to recover fully. By taking legal action now, victims can preserve evidence and strengthen their case while authorities continue their investigation into the Vineland Avenue three-vehicle crash.
